I'd recommend the Suzuki Jimny, Fiat Panda 4x4, Dacia Duster 4x4 or MINI Countryman All4. The Jimny is a brilliant 4x4. But Suzuki stopped selling it as a new car in 2021, which means your daughter will need a nearly new model via a dealer.

North York Moors. Feb 3, 2015. #13. Over the last month and a half I have driven the Panda 4x4 and our Grand Vitara (3 door, locking centre diff, low range box) back to back in the snow. The Vitara is very capable in these conditions but for me it is the Panda that feels the most secure and is best to drive.

The Panda by comparison uses ELD to nip the brakes on any wheel that slips. This means drive can still go to three other wheels and so provide more grip. The 4x4 Panda was not really created as a mud plugger, but to be used on Alpine roads, and so designed for snow. Snow tyres also of course make a difference.
